About Us


Marilyn Lawrence MIT CIT president, founder and technical instructor, provides a high level of technical expertise. Marilyn has over 35 years experience in electronic assembly training, engineering and technical support. She was first certified as a Cat C Mil-S-45743 and WS6536 instructor by the Department of Defense US Army Missile Command Redstone Arsenal while working for Texas Instruments, Inc. in Dallas, TX and has held other solder certifications as well.

Currently, she is a Certified IPC Trainer to J-STD-001, IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 as well as a Master IPC Trainer for the IPC-A-610 & J-STD-001. She is also ESD certified by the International Association of Radio and Telecommunication Engineers (iNARTE), a member and officer of the Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) West Penn Chapter and member of the IPC Associations. She has also participated as a member of the manufacturing committee for the SMC Business Councils.


Marilyn's experience includes work in the medical and defense industries, contract manufacturing, and was also part of the team at the University of Pittsburgh as a consultant on manufacturing electronics on the ATLAS detector for the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.



Matthew Lawrence CIT brings his experiences and commitment to quality to Conformance Technologies. Matt joined Conformance in 2006 in the role of Technical Services Lead.

Throughout his career he has developed a variety of technical and business skills which have enabled him to play key roles in Western Pennsylvania's regional electronics manufacturing firms. For 35 years Matt has assisted electronics companies with the development and implementation of surface mount and through hole printed circuit assembly facilities. He has extensive experience with high reliability military, medical and other industrial products. His capabilities include many aspects of manual and automated assembly, production facility design, equipment procurement and installation along with workforce training and development.

Matt also helped form the West Penn Chapter of the Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA) for which he served as President. Matt's strengths are his knowledge of the mechanics of soldering, experience with assembly processes, and his ability to impart an understanding of the importance of accuracy to students.
