Lead Free Soldering
This 1-day course includes: Introduction to RoHS and WEEE, Lead-free soldering issues, board platings, materials, tools and equipment, solder methods and hands-on workshop; surface mount or through-hole.
Soldering - Through-hole or Surface Mount
Material in this 1-day course includes basic concepts of electronic assembly; measurement, component identification, reference designators, solder, flux, tools and equipment for assembly, ESD, component prepping and installation, soldering and rework. Based on IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.
Rework
This course covers procedures for reworking electronic assemblies. Prescribes the procedural requirements, tools, materials and methods to be used in removing and replacing surface mount and through-hole components.
Wires and Terminals
This course includes: explanation of wire types, characteristics, AWG, and insulation. Tools and equipment for stripping wire, parameters for cut and strip length. Demonstration of stripping of insulation. Provides evaluation guidelines for nicks, scrapes, broken strands, insulation damage, frays and reduced insulation thickness. The course also covers wire tinning and mechanical attachment and soldering of wires and terminals. Various types of crimps and crimping tools are also discussed.
Electrostatic Discharge Awareness
This is a 1 1/2 - 2 hour ESD presentation. Topics discussed include: basic theory, ESD control and handling, protective packaging, proper use of materials and control products.
Schematic Reading
Includes: Component identification, reference designation, schematic symbols, schematic interpretation for assembly.
